Britney Spears did it again

Review byfor _Baby One More Time [ENHANCED CD]Rating: into that matter is required to properly evaluate it. It is difficult to do this, though, with something as shallow and superficial as Britney Spears CD "Baby OneMore Time". However, I did look into it, but what I ground was moredisturbing than enjoyable.Throughout the story of music, there havealways been the superficial pop artists- people who you either hate, love,or don`t actually give a care about.

Britney Spears is a classical example ofthis sad phenomona- an utterly boring teen pop queen who thinks that musicis simply about being the "hip" thing of the moment. Yes, she hassome songs that are catchy, but in my opinion, not catchy-enjoyable; I wasthinking more on the lines of catchy as in "GOD HELP ME RID MY HEADOF THIS TUNE". And, while these songs may be "catchy", theycertainly aren`t artistic, or enjoyable in the long run. Britney pretendsto express emotion, but none of her songs really convey lots of anything. The job is that this medicine is simply the expression that people arewilling to have these days: fake, superficial synthesized music, accompanied by a youth and but slightly talented voice. What makes itworse is that this music isn`t what it appears to be: in truth, I doubt anyof it was scripted by Britney herself. Believe me- in the corporate world, all these CD companies are stressful to do is make money. The entire album isnot aimed at being artistic, but rather engulfing today`s youth in thecurrent fad, while making as great a benefit as possible. I`ve heard peoplesay that they find a material connection with Britney; I liken that tosomeone feeling a "tangible" link to the guy at the fast-foodcounter who hands you your fries. The only connection she has with her fansis the adoration that she accepts from them. Also, one of the biggestproblems with the CD itself is the content it is communicating. In this dayand age, when most teens are already very messed up and face harddecisions, do we actually need pointless songs like "Soda Pop"?And, what no one seems to note is the lyrics of the title track- whatdoes "Hit me baby one more time" mean? Is it a sexual figure ofspeech? Or is it only to sound catchy? Or still worse, is it really justwhat it says? Are we promoting dating abuse by listening to it? Whatever itmeans, it can`t be good.If the music isn`t good, then why does it sell?(some of you may be asking) Well, two reasons. First of all, our societyhas come to take the whip and almost artificial of sounds to defend us.The moment cause is very simple: many buy the CD just for it`s so called"sexy" photo of Britney Spears. This is where it actually get bad-many people don`t worry at all around the music. Hey, if they can jump on thebandwagon and get pretty pictures at the same time, they`re in. It justproves an age old statement that you`d think we`ve overcome: sexualitysells. Sadly. Finally, I wish to ask you, after reading this, what youthink that this medicine is doing to the children and teens that mind to it?I feel sad just thinking around the girls obsessed with Britney, torturingthemselves to look as thin and jolly as she does. (If she actually does atall. What sort of mass are we to glorify Britney Spears, making her arole model for the young of now? It is a vicious, self-destructive cyclethis culture keeps going through, and we want to check out of it.Thefirst step, my friends, is deciding not to buy CD`s like this. I urgeeveryone who agrees with me to express their opinion, and be heard, and mostof all, not to adapt to these hideous standards set by society. And, on aclosing not, I`d wish to thank Amazon.com for having the courage to letpeople speak their true opinion, and for letting them be heard. This istruly a radical step in free speech.
